
GROUP CYCLING CLASSES
ABOUT GROUP CYCLING CLASSES
Typical class involves a single instructor at the front of the class who
leads the participants through routines that are designed to simulate terrain
and situations similar to riding a bike outdoors. Some of the movements and
positions include hill climbs, sprints and
interval training. A well-trained instructor uses
music,
motivation
and enthusiastic
coaching to lead students
through a ride that best suits their fitness level and goals. Most instructors
will lead what is called an interval ride, this is where students will sprint,
run, climb, and jump all in the same ride but there will not be definable
pattern to the exercises.
Each person in the class can choose their own goals for the session. Some
participants choose to maintain a moderate,
aerobic
intensity level, while others drive their heart rates higher in intervals of
anaerobic
activity. This is a major advantage of indoor cycling: each participant can
control his/her level of intensity; the classes can therefore be heterogeneous.
Besides being a great form of aerobic activity (burning between 400-600
calories in 40 minutes), indoor cycling is also beneficial in strengthening the
muscles of the lower body. It tones the
quadriceps
and
hamstrings,
along with working the back and hips.

STEP AEROBICS/AB TONING
Step Class
What?
Step aerobics
is distinguished from other forms of aerobic exercise by its use of an elevated
platform (the step). The height can be tailored to individual needs by inserting
risers under the step. Step aerobics classes are offered at many gyms and
fitness centers which have a group exercise program.
Benefits?
Step aerobics helps burn
calories. The number of calories burned depends on the speed of movements, step
height, and length of exercise time. Step aerobics provides endurance training,
which helps maintain the health of the cardiovascular system. The strength
training component of step aerobics helps improve gait and balance. Step
aerobics provides flexibility training that enhances joint movements. Step
aerobics has a positive impact on mental health as well. Since the workout is
fun and enjoyable, it can help release stress. If the workout is done in a
group, the exercise session can create social connections with others. Lastly,
step aerobics is suitable for all ages.

This portion
of class lasts ˝ hour.
Abdominal Toning Class
What?
The stability
ball is one of the best pieces of equipment for abdominal exercise. Since it
requires balance, your deeper core muscles must be active in order to stay
stable on the ball. The ball can also increase your range of motion. For
example, when performing traditional crunches, your range of motion is limited
by the floor. In contrast, the stability ball allows you to add extension to the
return movement.
Time
This portion
of class lasts ˝ hour and is the second part of class.
Classes will be held on Tuesdays 7:30pm-8:30pm & Wednesdays 5:00pm-6:00pm (starting 2/28/12)

WOMEN ON WEIGHTS 1
Women on Weights 1 is an introduction class to strength and toning using free-weights, machines in the weight room as well as the equipment in the fitness studio room. this class will also teach you to put together a workout routine that you can do on your own. This is a Five week class offered Wednesdays 7pm-8pm and Thursdays 12pm-1pm

WOMEN ON WEIGHTS 2
Women on Weights 2 is a continuation of what was learned in class one put into a 2 or 3 day a week workout. This is a small group training class limited to 6 people per group.
Group A meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 1pm-2pm
Group B meets Tuesdays And Thursdays 6pm-7pm
Group C meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11am-12pm

BEGINNERS YOGA/PILATES
Yoga/Pilates Focuses on lower body and core conditioning and balance work. the exercises in this class will help improve flexibility, rang of motion, balance and core strength. This class is offered Mondays and Wednesdays 12pm-1pm

TABATA FITNESS
Tabata is a fun and High Intensity exercise class. this class will have you sweating and testing you limits. the exercises in this class can be modified to any fitness level. Classes are offered Mondays 7:30pm-8:30pm and Tuesdays 12pm-pm

will learn how to make permanent lifestyle changes. You will learn about
nutrition and exercise. We provide incentive games, lively meetings &
material to keep you going. Founded in 1948, TOPS is a non-profit weight
loss support group with over 300,000 members in 11,700 chapters worldwide.
Men, women, and children over the age of seven are welcome.
FEE: $24 yearly national dues and $1 per week for weekly dues
